Moorfield Consultation Event

Welcome to the online consultation website for the Bellway Proposals at Dumfries Drive, Moorfield, Kilmarnock.

This page provides information on the proposed residential development at Moorfield which will see the development of a long vacant site to provide additional family homes.

This website provides the local community with the opportunity to shape the proposals for this final part of the Moorfield development, and to provide comments that will inform the design and subsequent planning application.

The Proposals

Bellway Homes Ltd propose a residential development on an area of land which is accessed from Dumfries Drive, to the west of the B7081.

The plan below shows the location of the proposed development.

The proposals for the site make provision for a total of approximately 58 houses, together with associated roads, landscaping, play space and drainage.

The houses will comprise a range of 3 and 4 bedroom detached/semi-detached and terraced houses.

The plans involve the development on the existing playing field, which has not been adopted by EAC or any other party since it was built.

Bellway are however committed to the provision of alternative play areas within and around the site to compensate for the loss of the playing field. It is intended that this alternative provision will be better used and of greater benefit to local families than the playing field. We would welcome any thoughts you may have on this as part of our consultation exercise.

Additionally, while the existing clubhouse lies outside the planned development area, Bellway would also welcome the opportunity to explore future options for the community to use this space.

Our Consultation

Bellway Homes Ltd are committed to positive and pro-active local community engagement on their proposals at Moorfield.

In normal circumstances we would hold a public exhibition in a local community hall as the main component of our pre-application consultation on the proposals. However, due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, it is not feasible for public events to go ahead as they would ordinarily. In accordance with current government guidance, we therefore are undertaking our pre-application consultation electronically and held an on-line event instead.

The event featured a presentation of the proposals followed by a question and answer session. During this event members of the project team were available to answer questions and receive feedback on the proposals for before submission of the planning application to EAC later in July.

This event took place between 3pm – 5pm on Thursday 10th June 2021.

It should be noted that comments made to the prospective applicant and their consultants are not representations to the planning authority. There will be an opportunity to make representations to East Ayrshire Council when a formal application is submitted.
